Damien Hackney is the founder and Principle Instructor of the Dragon Temple, and an international gold medalist in Chinese Martial Arts. He teaches personally all of the Exeter classes, as well as coaching students one-to-one at his home on Dartmoor.
Damien has loved martial arts all his life, and maintains an enthusiastic commitment to coaching traditional internal Kung Fu AND Sanshou kick-boxing as a competitive sport. Being convinced of the positive role martial arts training can play in society, Damien has worked in schools through violence prevention projects, and has led courses for women's self-defense.
The philosophy of the Dragon Temple embraces the battle within ones self as well as training for competitions. Damien successfully coaches a number of British Champions each year, and hosts an annual tournament to raise money for good causes.
'The purpose of all this training, the discipline, the power and inner strength, is to better ourselves, but only in the sense that we will then be better for others.' (Damien Hackney)
